FOOD/DRINK STOP 1: LA MICRO
La Micro is a bar owned by two brothers born and bred in the area, Andres and Roberto, who brew their own craft-style beers under the Triske Ale label. They also offer a range of Galician, Spanish and international artisan beers too either on tap or bottled. They also have a small but select range of home-made tapas to accompany the beers.


FOOD/DRINK STOP 2: LA SIDRERÍA ESTRELLA BAIONA
A large bar which is now a Cider House offering the ciders of Estrella Galicia. We will try a natural Galician Cider and other local bites.

FOOD/DRINK STOP 3: RECUNCHO MARIÑEIRO 
This is a popular local restaurant/bar owned and managed by a leading wine expert, Pedro Villamarin. It´s now time to enjoy a glass of red and white Galician with more food!

Day by day itinerary

 DAY 1:
BAIONA

  • Lunch (12:00PM APPROX.) or Dinner (07:30PM APPROX.): Meet your Private English-Speaking Food & Wine Specialist Guide at the entrance to the 2000 year old Fortress and Parador outside the new Tourist Office in the corner of  A Palma park.
  • Then after a short walk taking in the sea views/bay you cross the road and head towards the entrance to the Old Town of Baiona. You will see to your right the Old Convent Building which dates back to 1547 and a modern street which is part of the new Baiona
  • Head up this street and shortly on your left you will see a large entrance to the Old Fish Market which is now full of food related stalls.
  • After a quick wonder around you will see that the corner is a bar called La Micro, our 1st food stop.
  • You will be served with two different draught artisan Galician beers from a wide choice plus a freshly made tapa.
  • Then take a short-cut along Baiona´s narrowest street Rua Entrehortas to enter the Old Town and have a good walk around exploring the upper half of it including seeing Liberata Square including its chapel dated 1695 and Santa Maria Church which dates back to the 13th Century and you will also follow the pilgrims for a short while on the Camino de Santiago (Portuguese Coastal Way from porto to Santiago)  which passes through the town including the old Pilgrims 16th Century Hospital.
  • Time for a rest again at our 2nd stop La Sidreria Estrella Baiona. We will enter quite a large bar which is now a Cider House. We will try a natural Galician Cider and we will wash this down with a Spanish tortilla made with cod.
  • Now for stroll in between stops we will go around the rest of the Old Town and stops to see Pazo de Mendoza a local noblemen´s house built in 1768 and its square we will enter our final establishment.
  • Other buildings of interest :Monument to Alfonso IX , Misericordia Chapel 1595, Lorenzo Correa House now Council Offices 1757, Ceta House 14th Century, San Juan Chapel 17th Century and Navigation Museum.
  • Our last stop will be at Recuncho Mariñeiro, this is a popular local restaurant/bar owned and managed by a leading wine expert, Pedro Villamarin. It´s now time to enjoy a glass of red and white Galician wine accompanied by a cheeseboard of local Galician cheeses (Tetilla, Arzúa and San Simón) and bread.

  • No other beverages are included outside of what is tasted with your guide selection of wines.
  • All extras must be paid directly.
  • Tips & Gratuities are not included nor are the mandatory but always welcome if you had a good time.

Pick up

  • Meeting Point: At the entrance to the 2000 year old Fortress and Parador outside the new Tourist Office in the corner of A Palma park.

Drop off

  •  At the the last restaurant/bar stop in the Old Town.

Cancellation policy

  •   Cancellations more than 2 days before departure will receive a full refund.  Cancellations within this period attract a 100% cancellation fee.
  • If any of the bars/restaurants as described above are closed due to any unforeseen circumstances we will offer a similar type venue. If we cannot get 3 tapas locations at any given time due to availability you will have more tapas at the last stop making it 2 stops. Normally it is 3 but we have the right to offer the same amount of tapas/wines tasted but at 2 venues.
