Introduction

We will travel through an un-spoilt countryside of hills, rivers, mountain ranges and valleys with lush vegetation and visit sanctuaries, fortresses, manor houses and see a wide range of Romanic architecture to arrive in SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA where we will visit the city and the cathedral.

Board and lodging in nice hotels/manor houses. The itineraries include accommodation and full board, plus professional guides, escorts and insurance, fully-kitted horses and cross-country vehicles. 

This way was the oldest and most important cultural route of Europe. All the spiritual and cultural grounds are live today so one thousand years after this pilgrimage way is still in use.

We shall ride along the final section of this route just starting at the point where this route reaches Galicia. As a horse-riding pilgrims we shall revive a part of the history of the old Europe.

We shall cross along some of the best conservated natural environments of Southern Europe. Remote old villages and historic remains will be reached by us and we shall enjoy nature and wildlife as the ancients did. 

NOTE: A minimum of 4 people is required for this tour.

Day by day itinerary

ITINERARY: 

OPTION 1 (7 Days / 6 Nights): VIGO OR SANTIAGO - O CEBREIRO - TRIACASTELA -  SAMOS - PORTOMARÍN - PALAS DE REY - SALCEDA - SANTIAGO

OPTION 2 (6 Days / 5 Nights): VIGO OR SANTIAGO -  SARRIA - PORTOMARÍN - PALAS DE REY - SALCEDA - SANTIAGO


DAY 1:

  • Transfer from the airport, train station, bus stations, hotels, etc... in Santiago or Vigo.
  • Here are the 2 options for different starting departure points on the way: 

    • Start riding from O Cebreiro (7 Days / 6 Nights)
    • Start riding from Sarria (6 Days / 5 Nights)
  • On arrival at our accommodation, we will check in our rooms
  • Some free time before dinner
  • 08:30PM: Dinner at the accommodation
  • 10:00PM: After dinner time to get some sleep for our next day of riding the Camino de Santiago
  • Overnight

*DAYS 2 - 6 (*Number of days depending on the option you choose, the daily routine would be the same each day.):

  • 08:00AM: Breakfast
  • 09:00AM: Saddle up and start our horse-riding 
  • 11:00AM: Morning stop (A break for a drink, snack, coffee, etc...)
  • 11:30AM: We continue on our ride after the short break
  • 02:00PM: Stop for Lunch and to rest a bit
  • 04:00PM: Afternoon back on our horse and we continue on the way.
  • 06:00PM-06:30PM approx.: Ending the day at our accommodation to stay overnight.
  • Free time to rest and relax
  • 08:30PM: Dinner at the accommodation
  • 10:00PM: After dinner time to get some sleep for our next day of riding the Camino de Santiago

DAY 7 or 6:

  • This morning you could make the final ride into the Obradoiro square by horseback to end your Camino de Santiago.
  • Back to the hotel for breakfast
  • 12:00PM: Transfer to Santiago airport, train or bus station, etc... If you would prefer to stay further nights in Santiago see our add-on section for a short stay in Santiago with a guided tour of the Cathedral, etc...
  • End of our services.

  • Truck prepared with boxes and spare horses, if necessary. We consider that having the horse plays such a leading role in this event, it may be necessary to prevent and keep them on hand.

FURTHER DETAILS:

  • We provide you with a fully equipped horse well adapted to this land. You can also bring your own horse (Ask for details!). You don`t need to be an expert rider but some riding experience is preferable. 
  • Weather in Galicia is variable but mild. Anyway, a light coat and waterproof wear are recommended. Recommended season for mild weather is from March to October
