Maruja Limon is located opposite Vigo's sailing club, the Real Club Náutico. The pleasant waiting area at the entrance leads to a stylish interior with stone and wood-clad walls designed so that the chef can cook every dish in front of everyone like in a "show-cooking". Contemporary, creative dishes based around seasonal and Galician ingredients.
The restaurant Maruja Limón opened its doors in 2001 and the name of Maruja Limón is a homage of Rafa Centeno to his mother-in-law, since she is called Maruja, and the full name comes from the song that Concha Piquer composed and that has this name. It's the only restaurant in Vigo with a Michelin Star.
It offers serious dishes in flavor built by a team that when it opened, back in 2001, it had nothing to do with this industry! In fact, his alma mater, Rafael Centeno works with the mediatic chef Inés Abril, who has a diploma in labor relations and had never worked in the kitchen before. Something that, according to the chef, brings uniqueness to its gastronomic offer. Luckily, his lack of academic training in the kitchen did not stop his desire to experiment. In this way, he has achieved a personal style and "free", as he says, that navigates successfully through the Atlantic Ocean. An experience, in short, fun, with no tablecloth and with high-quality products from wild boar to hake fish, wild rabbit, etc.
In 2010 their Restaurant was awarded one Michelin star and they've been holding it up until today.
Their cuisine is a fresh, young kitchen, based on clear coordinates: on the one hand, tenacity, constancy, insistence; on the other, delicacy and sensitivity. The first thing is that they try, insist and do not feel satisfied until each dish remains as they want; from there, that plate will remain in his style, as long as the circumstances of the market allow it; the second, along with good taste, the elegance of its presentations and the harmony of flavors and textures.
The well-known duo of professional chefs are willing to share with you some of their secrets by teaching you how to make 3 of their best dishes in a hands-on class to later enjoy them (as well as some other of their creations) in their Michelin Star Restaurant!.
