General information and recomendations about the selected destination
The Kingdom of Spain is a country of contrasts and rich culture. When you travel across this land from North to South, or East to West the landscape and even languages change. There are 4 different languages which are Castilian Spanish (Spoken all over Spain), Catalan (Spoken in Catalonia, Valencia and on the Balearic Islands), Galician (Spoken in Galicia) and Basque (Spoke in the Basque Country). Not forgetting to mention the varied gastronomy and wines of each region.
There are a total of 17 different autonomous regions in Spain (Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Balearic Islands, Basque Country, Canary Islands, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y Leon, Catalonia, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid, Murcia, Navarra, La Rioja and Valencia.) each of which are really like their own little country.
Travelling thru north you will see Green Spain, lush in nature and a great place for outdoor activities. Important routes travel across the north like the Camino de Santiago (Pilgrimage Way of St. James) an excellent way to get to know the regions since it starts just over the border in France and ends all the way west in Santiago de Compostela. Food and wine is abundant in the North-western corner of Spain. Tasting the seafood and Albariño wines is a must when in Galicia.
Southern Spain offers a bit more sun and historic landmark cities like; Seville, Cordoba, Granada, etc… Here you will see the Moorish influence and typical image of Spain with the Flamenco dancing, bullfights, etc…
The Balearic and Canary Islands are exotic paradises’ to enjoy the sea and island way of life.
Discover Spain for yourself, there is so much to see and do that you will have to come back many times to see it all!
