This is the second time we used Sean´s company, it was at the end of a Douro River cruise. Our driver Carlos picked our group of 6 up in Porto stopping at Pena Palace in Sintra (with a tour guide) and Fatima on the way to Lisbon. He then met us the next day at our hotel and drove us to a winery for a private tour and a visit to a seaside village. Wonderful.

Just a quick note to thank you and tell you how much we enjoyed the tour. We saw things we never would have...
This was our first guided tour and we couldn't have been happier. The guides added great information and fun anecdotes...´really bringing the history alive. There were only two bumps in the road Id like to point out: When we arrived back in Madrid for our final leg, we weren't told exactly where to meet our driver. It took over an hour and several phone calls to find him as the station was huge, with multiple exits. Easily rectified with better communication. The second is about our guides. Maybe it was because all of them were so excellent but our guide in Ronda wasn't as good as the others. There were definitely some communication issues being that he seemed not as fluent as our other guides, but he also couldn`t answer many of our questions about the town, the history, etc. Again, it may be relative as our other guides were beyond amazing but I did want you to know.
EATours came highly recommended and y´all exceeded our expectations
Already thinking about the next trip we can take with you. Thank you so very much.

An excellent trip. As to transport, we thought all the sets of drivers did a really good job. They met us in sensible places, were easily identifiable, and had clean, comfortable cars. We were impressed with the way the chauffeur in Cordoba had liaised with our guide Lola in advance of meeting us for the trip to the Medina. Las Casas de la Juderia was a lovely hotel, well-located, full of character, and with very helpful staff.
As to the guided parts of the programme, Diego was our guide for the gastronomic part of our trip. His tapas tour was outstanding – not purely gastronomic but a fascinating introduction to the city in three different styles. The first stop was the roof terrace of a private flat, where we simply ate cheese and ham accompanied by a bottle of local red wine and a stunning view of the Mezquita. The second was a large hotel, where we looked at Visigothic remains in the basement before a beautifully-presented tapa with cava in the hotel bar. The third was a local tavern, clearly off the main tourist trail, where we ate local specialities with fino. For the second day, our trip to Montilla, Diego had clearly become a bit confused by our attempt to combine two different programmes, and had to recover on the hoof. However, the main components of our visit were excellent, and we were especially pleased to see the olive estate while harvesting was actually in progress. The visit to the winery in Montilla was excellent. Diego was also very helpful in sorting out a problem when we realised after the event that the winery had given us a different wine from the one we intended to buy.
Lola was our guide for the morning tour of Cordoba, and also the expedition to the Medina. On the former, we spent about two-thirds of the time in the Mezquita, but that was mainly because Lola was responding to our own interest in the place. Again, she was an outstanding guide, because of her enthusiasm and flexibility as well as her knowledge.
Amor was our guide in Madrid, and we appreciated her flexibility in trying to get to us earlier than she expected to do. The visit was basically focused on the Alcazar Royal Palce, which we were delighted to see. We had the impression that Amor basically had her story to tell, from which she was not going to be deflected by any questions from us, but she did know that story.
In all three cases, we valued the access that the guides had: the ability to bypass queues, and in Diego’s case to get into places that would otherwise have been closed to us.
You made two restaurant bookings for us. Gourmet Iberico provided a very pleasant lunch. Relatively simple food, but with good ingredients and well done. We would happily return there and tried once, but found it fully booked. Our New Years dinner at Palacio del Bandolero was the one serious gastronomic disappointment of the trip. The menu looked really good, and our expectations from seeing it were that we would have a relaxed meal with interesting food and wine. We enjoyed trying the local specialities but the standard/quality was not amazing. The service was very rushed and gave the impression that the kitchen staff were keen for us to finish by 11:00 so that they could clear up and eat their grapes at home.
Overall, however, a great success - particularly our hotel and guides in Cordoba.

The tour was one of the best we have experienced as a group of 20 friends who travel overseas regularly from Australia. The pace of travel was ideal. We had an opportunity to savour Northern Spain and Portugal and not be in a rush. Hotel quality for the price was excellent - well located so that we could enjoy the delights of the cities when we were there overnight. The guides provided had excellent knowledge of the areas we visited. The bus driver who accompanied us for most of the trip was courteous and very helpful. Overall, a really enjoyable trip with lots of great memories. Thank you Angie, Sean and the team at EATour for arranging this trip - a trip we will cherish forever.
