Azores Islands

The Azores Islands comprises of 9 scenic, volcanic islands deep in the Atlantic Ocean over 1,360 km west of mainland Portugal. São Miguel is the largest island famous for its volcanic crater called Sete Cidades and Fogo (Fire) Lagoons in the centre of the island and its most beautiful sight. You’ll also encounter geysers, hot thermal waters and volcanic lakes. In the hot springs locals make the dish "Cozido das Furnas" slowly cooked in a giant pot full of meats (pork, sausage, chicken and beef) and vegetables. The south-eastern most island of Santa Maria has fantastic white, sandy beaches and a landscape dominated by vineyards.

The Algarve has some of the very best and cleanest beaches in Europe together with its fantastic all year round appeal it’s no surprise that it’s most popular tourist destination in Portugal. It’s the central part which is the most popular between Lagos and Faro to the east. It’s quieter around Sagres and the wilder, west coast
Lisbon and Tagus Valley

The Lisbon Region is the region surrounding Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. It consists of municipalities located on both banks of the wide mouth of the Tagus (Tejo) river where it meets the Atlantic Ocean.
Madeira Islands

Rising like a green miracle from the Atlantic off the Moroccan coast, some one thousand kilometres south west of Lisbon, Madeira has been a holiday destination since the end of the 19th century. Blessed with a spectacular volcanic landscape and subtropical climate, the island boasts more repeat visitors than any other part of Portugal. But Madeira is mostly synonymous with its rich, fruity wine of the same name, which has been made on the island for hundreds of years. Visitors to the Old Blandy Wine Lodge can buy Vintage Madeira from every decade as far back as the mid 19th century, while the oldest surviving bottle dates back to 1772.

The capital of Madeira Islands, Funchal, is an enchanting town set on a glittering bay against a background of soaring green mountains. Winding cobbled streets meander between elegant colonial-style buildings, nestling into the shelter of the verdant hillside. Funchal’s historic core overlooks the harbour and features some fine government buildings and stately 18th-century mansions. Its deep natural harbour attracted early settlers in the 15th century.

Lisbon is the capital of Portugal and its largest city, and also one of the oldest cities in the world and the oldest in Western Europe. The city of seven hills, it has myriad attractions, and its light and unique features enchant writers, photographers and film-makers.
