On this food tour you will enjoy the best bites (pintxos) and tapas in A Coruña at selected bars and restaurants of the city. Your Food & Wine Guide will meet you at the FNAC store entrance, Plaza de Lugo. An excellent option for those who would like a lunch tasting various Galician fine wines paired with delicious, freshly made tapas.
A Coruña is an ancient city even by European standards. Its chief claim to fame in Antiquity was the Farum Brigantium, a lighthouse built by the Romans in the 2nd century and dedicated to the god Mars. Known today as the Tower of Hercules, it is the world's only fully operational Roman lighthouse, a UNESCO world heritage site.
On our relaxed walking tour, you will explore parts of the town normally off-the-radar for most visitors. In the Old Town we will take in cute Romanesque churches and traditional taverns and eateries popular with locals.
We will get to taste quality red and white Galician wines at three different locations and sample excellent tetilla cheese, the traditional Galician pie known as empanada, the immensely popular pressed pork roxóns and the ubiquitous polbo á feira or octopus.
When in season from May through September, you will have the chance to try fried parrochas or baby sardines and the wonderful ´hot pepper Russian roulette´ pementos de padrón - unos pican, outros non, which means padrón peppers – some are hot while others are not.
Discover the best bites, tapas and wines in Galicia´s most friendly city.
